ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to examine the the effect of accounting information system on organization performance in Nigeria. Specifically, the study determined the effect of accounting information system on organizational productivity, examined how accounting information system lead to better decision-making by managers, examined ascertained the role of accounting information systems and its potential contribution in tax computations, identified the challenges confronting the implementation of the accounting information system, determined the extent of awareness and perception of managers regarding accounting information system and determined the effectiveness of accounting information system in decision making of managers on organizational effectiveness. The study employed the survey descriptive research design. A total of 30 responses were validated from the survey. The study adopted the modernization theory. From the responses obtained and analysed, the findings revealed that the effects of accounting information system on organizational productivity include it enhances administrative effectiveness, it leads to good financial reports and it leads to better decision making. The study recommend accounting information be used by organizations. More so, transparency of the accounting information should be ensured.
